The Hermes Kelly traces its origins to the Sac a depeches — a structured travel bag introduced in 1935. It was renamed following a 1956 photograph of Grace Kelly using one to shield her pregnancy from the press, and has carried that association ever since. The Kelly is distinguished from the Birkin by its trapezoid silhouette, single top handle, fold-over flap, and turn-lock closure — a design that works equally as a handbag or, with its detachable strap, as a shoulder or crossbody bag.
Epsom leather is a smooth, structured calfskin embossed with a subtle crosshatch pattern. Its rigid surface resists both scratching and moisture, making it one of the most hardwearing leathers Hermes offers, and it holds colour with exceptional clarity. The piece is complemented by gold-plated brass hardware. The 35cm size offers one of the most widely collected Birkin formats, offering a generous capacity while retaining classic proportions.
Presented in pre-owned condition and accompanied by original box, dust bag, raincoat, lock, keys, clochette, receipt.
