The Rolex Milgauss ref. 116400-0002 was developed to maintain precision in environments affected by strong magnetic fields. Originally introduced in 1956 for scientists and engineers, the Milgauss was the first wristwatch capable of withstanding magnetic exposure of up to 1,000 gauss—hence its name.
This version features a 40mm Oystersteel case with a smooth bezel and a white dial accented by bright orange details, including the distinctive lightning-bolt seconds hand and matching hour markers. The watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 3131 movement, which incorporates a Faraday cage and antimagnetic components such as the blue Parachrom hairspring, providing both stability and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
Water-resistant to 100 meters and fitted with an Oyster bracelet, the Milgauss combines durability with understated design. Discontinued in 2013, the white-dial Milgauss remains the rarest of the modern models and is appreciated among collectors for its balanced aesthetic and technical innovation.
